The Ummah in an Age of Chaos
By Qalbun Yaqzaan | قلبٌ يقظان – A heart that can no longer sleep
Two billion Muslims – yet morally confused, politically divided, and spiritually distracted.
The USA/Israel war with Iran threatens to engulf the region. Pakistan could be next. Al-Aqsa is closed during Ramadan while Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen… are burning.
And still, the Ummah scrolls.
Markets are full. Eid shopping continues. Life moves on as if nothing is happening. Something deeply wrong is unfolding in our time – morally, spiritually and politically. The signs are everywhere.
1. Al-Aqsa
Al-Aqsa is closed during Ramadan – for the first time since 1967 Muslims cannot access their first Qiblah. At the same time, warnings circulate about a possible false-flag operation or desecration of Al-Aqsa.
If that day comes, the question is simple: Are we ready for it, or have we become too numb to respond?
2. Gaza and Political Deals
Gaza faces devastation while new “peace frameworks” emerge without genuine Palestinian representation and normalization quietly advances.
Despite pouring trillions of dollars into the American economy, the Muslim world could not move a single tank for Gaza – nor even ensure aid reached starving Palestinians for over two years. We enriched their economies – yet Gaza still starves!
This is not Sulh Hudaybiyyah (صلح الحديبية).
Will nations rushing into such deals one day stand on the wrong side of history – perhaps even opposing Hazrat Imam Mehdi?
3. Foreign Military Presence
The Iran war has exposed something long ignored: a network of foreign military bases across the Middle East functioning as the eyes and ears of outside powers on Muslim lands.
Have we stopped to realise that we ourselves helped enable the kuffar to destroy Muslim nations across the Middle East – and perhaps beyond?
4. Pakistan and External Threats
Pakistan may soon face war with India (aided by the USA/Israel) while remaining in unnecessary tension with Afghanistan – our brothers in faith bound by the same Qur’an and shared history.
It forces a painful question: am I ready to be bombed, displaced, dispossessed or starved like the people of Palestine and other genocided nations? Most likely not.
5. Leadership Crisis
Across the Arab and Muslim world, leaders appear fragmented, morally compromised and too scared to stand with clarity and dignity.
What frightens me most is this: These leaders represent us. Are we that rotten?
6. Sectarian Division
While crises multiply, the Ummah remains divided by sect, tribe, nationality and politics. Shia, Sunni, Barelvi – arguing among ourselves while others set the agenda.
Can we ever truly stand as one Ummah?
7. Epstein Revelations
The Epstein revelations exposed disturbing allegations of trafficking, exploitation, rape, cannibalism and Satanic worship among powerful global elites.
Ask yourself: How do such figures continue shaping global politics and waging wars with impunity? And should we really be shaking hands with such demonic entities?
8. Weakness Within
Iran and Palestine exposed something uncomfortable: the enemy was never as powerful as we imagined. What magnified them was our own weakness – wahn (وہن) – love of dunya and fear of death.
So the real question is not how strong the enemy is – but how weak our hearts have become?
“Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what people’s hands have earned.” (Surah Ar-Rum 30:41)
The Prophet ﷺ warned that nations would gather against Muslims “like people gathering to eat from a dish,” and despite their numbers they would become “like foam on the sea.” (Sunan Abi Dawud 4297)
Today there are nearly two billion Muslims. Yet scholars tell us that when the great trials unfold, the army of Hazrat Imam Mehdi may number 12,000 – perhaps 70,000.
If that is the case, one frightening question remains: What will the rest of us be doing?
The tragedy of our time is not weakness. It is sleep.
Closing Reflection
I personally feel emotionally drained and physically exhausted by the chaos of the time we are living in. Yet through prayer and dua, I remain hopeful that Allah will not abandon His people and that His help is near.
I pray that efforts like the series “Let Quran Speak” awaken our hearts to the trials ahead while reminding us of Allah’s mercy and promise of help.
O Allah, awaken our dead hearts before events awaken us. Unite the Ummah upon truth and justice. Grant strength and victory to those standing firm in times of trial. Do not let us be among those who saw the signs yet remained asleep. Grant our loved ones, scholars and martyrs the highest ranks in Jannah.
Ameen.
