Qurbani Was Meant to Change the Heart

By Qalbun Yaqzaan | قلبٌ يقظان — A Heart That Can No Longer Sleep

Dhul-Hijjah is the season of sacrifice — but its purpose was never ritual alone, it was always transformation.

🌙 The Spirit of Dhul-Hijjah

Dhul-Hijjah reminds us of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S.), who was willing to surrender what was most beloved to him for the sake of Allah SWT, and Hazrat Ismail (A.S.), who submitted with complete trust and obedience.

Qurbani was never meant to remain a ritual. It was meant to transform the heart. Hajj reflects the unity of the Ummah — millions dressed alike, worshipping one Allah SWT, moving together in humility and submission.

Islam was never meant to be empty rituals — but a living connection between faith, sacrifice, and the Ummah.

🐑 We All Have Our Isma‘eel

Somewhere along the way, sacrifice became more about appearance than transformation. Conversations now revolve around prices, breeds, clothes, gatherings, and photos — while the spirit of sacrifice quietly fades.

We all have our Isma‘eel. For some, it is wealth; for others, status, relationships, comfort, desires, fears, or ambitions.

What is that one thing you hold so tightly that surrendering it for Allah SWT feels difficult?

🌍 A Time for Reflection

While we celebrate safely, families in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and other lands scarred by war are sacrificing far more than we can imagine.

Some lose homes. Others bury children. Some give their own lives while still holding onto faith.

دلِ مردہ دل نہیں ہے، اسے زندہ کر دوبارہ
کہ یہی ہے اُمتوں کے مرضِ کہن کا چارہ

✨ What Should We Focus On?

  • Increase Dhikr and Takbeer
  • Fast, especially on the Day of Arafah
  • Give charity quietly and sincerely
  • Purify intentions before actions
  • Sacrifice sins, ego, and attachment to dunya

This Eid, ask yourself:

if Allah SWT asked me to let go, step forward, change, forgive, sacrifice, or submit
Would I truly be willing?

May Allah SWT unite this Ummah, awaken our hearts, and accept our sacrifices. Ameen.
